Our history
Dan. Stevens (1927) founded D.G.S. (Grinding Wheels & Machines) Limited in 1967. A factory manufacturing abrasive cutting-off wheels was created in Stockport and distribution was organised through a Wolverhampton warehouses and offices. In 1973 a Southern division was established in Portsmouth, which has since diversified into all areas of abrasive media.
In 1980 a woodworking factory was acquired in Stafford producing niche products related to the Crystal Glass and High Street Jewellery trade. D.G.S. products were complimentary to leading brands such as Waterford, Royal Brierley, Edinburgh and Stuart Crystal.
Most of Britain’s leading stores such as Harrods, Fortnum & Masons, Garrards and Mappin & Webb stocked D.G.S. products.
The D.G.S. Group of Companies is now a well established manufacturing and distribution operation with over 40 years experience and 25 employees, most have been part of this friendly family company for all of their working.
